Wyndham City Council in Victoria, Australia, has chosen architect WMCQ's snaking schematic designs for a new crossing of the Werribee River. Three teams had been shortlisted in the first stage of the project.

WMCQ has offered two alternative alignments, with one winding round large red river gum trees trees on the south bank and the other passing between them. The structure consists of a steel box girder section up to 1.5m deep below a coloured and patterned concrete deck.

The design will now progress to concept development with a view to producing architectural drawings and a specification by June, allowing tenders for the design and construction to be invited in June or July.
