Sonia Gandhi, who chairs the National Advisory Council, laid the foundation stone of the Basohli Bridge, which is intended to provide an impetus to development and tourism by connecting adjoining states and opening up a new strategic route.



The 592m-long Basohli Bridge will be built by Ircon-SPS Construction, with Infinity Engineering Group acting as the design engineer and cable-stayed specialist. Infinity was appointed to the role in December.The US$32 million bridge will have a tower height of about 88m above deck level. Completion is due by September 2014.
