Bids opened for Mississippi's Biloxi Bay Bridge
GC Constructors' bid of US$338.6m was the lowest of the three received yesterday by the Mississippi Department of Transportation for the design and construction of a new US 90 bridge over Biloxi Bay. The existing drawbridge had been destroyed last year by Hurricane Katrina. Granite Archer Western - which is already building a replacement bridge over St Louis Bay - bid US$343.8 million while Yates/Hill priced the job at US$384.4 million. GC Constructors' proposal puts the project completion date as February 2008, 30 days later than the other bids.
