The final piece of a new US$4million foot and cycle bridge was put in place last week in Norwich, eastern England, ahead of the official opening next week.

The bridge can swing open to allow tall vessels to pass by, but is also high enough to let most river traffic through.

It has been built by the Norfolk Strategic Partnership of May Gurney, Mott Macdonald and Norfolk County Council. Funding has come from Norfolk City Council, the East of England Development Agency, Greater Norwich Development Partnership and the developers of the St Anne's Wharf and Riverside areas that are alongside the bridge.
