A 5.5km 'mega bridge' over the River Ganges in the Indian state of Bihar is to be built under a public-private partnership (PPP), chief minister Nitish Kumar has said.
It will be the state's first major project to be developed on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis as a PPP.
Three teams responded to the request for proposals after prequalification. The Hindustan Engineering Syndicate (HES) consortium of Hyderabad is believed to be frontrunner for the US$323 million project, which is expected to take four years to build.
