Dallas Area Rapid Transit awarded the contract for the work on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) bridge over Inwood Road.

CH2M’s responsibilities include presenting repair options for the structure, preparing plans and specifications and developing cost estimates. The scope of work encompasses structural design, geotechnical services, field and design surveys, drainage and services during construction.

A critical aspect of the project is maintaining access to Inwood Road, a primary gateway into a medical district that includes several hospitals. More than 30,000 employees work in the district and over 2.2 million patients visit annually. In addition, the rail bridge must remain open as it is on the TRE commuter route between downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth.

The bridge rehabilitation project is part of an overall plan to upgrade the TRE corridor, improving freight capacity in the region as well as opening the way for more frequent and reliable passenger rail service, increased ridership and reduced congestion.
