Canada's National Capital Commission (NCC) has halted work on a proposed interprovincial bridge in Ottawa.
Plans for the new bridge at Kettle Island had proved controversial and NCC had found it difficult to achieve consensus. Earlier this month, the province of Ontario had decided against providing funding.
The Kettle Island corridor had been selected last month. The envrionmental review had been scheduled for completion this year, with all environmental approvals expected to be in place by late 2014.
