The government of Canada is moving forward with plans for the project by publishing the second part of the environmental assessment report and announcing the start of consultation, including a series of open houses.

The new bridge will replace the existing Champlain Bridge in Montreal, spanning the St. Lawrence River to connect the Island of Montreal to the South Shore.

Comments are being invited on the effects of the project on the environment, as well as proposed mitigation measures that are the subject of the report, published this week

The report has been prepared for Transport Canada by the Dessau-Cima+ joint venture and is available on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency's website at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca.
