The group was set up by the city to identify and discuss issues to address in deciding where to site the possible bridge. It considered the community, economic development, environment, financial and transportation impacts of each identified viable site.

Ratings were assigned for eight river crossings within 16 approach corridors, evaluating them against the five categories. Results were put into a matrix and an estimated cost magnitude was also assigned to each site.

The top scoring corridors have been identifed but no decision has yet been taken by on whether to build a second bridge. The report will be considered by the council later this month.
