Ministers from the two countries presided over a ceremony held last week to mark the start of work on the bridge over the Moei River.
The US$87 million construction project, designed by Thailand’s Department of Highways, includes the construction of the bridge, connecting roads on both sides and border control facilities.
The bridge will become part of Asian Highway 1 when it opens, which is expected to be in 2019.
