New Jersey Department of Transportation has awarded a contract for the replacement of the Highlands Bridge over the Shrewsbury River in the US state.

JH Reid's bid of US$124.6 million beat three others, which ranged from almost US$139 million to US$162.8 million. The existing opening bridge was built in 1932 but is in poor condition and deteriorating rapidly. Its replacement with a fixed high-level bridge has been designed to avoid traffic restrictions and minimise maintenance.
