Seymour Whyte, a Vinci Construction subsidiary based in Australia, will build the 349m-long bridge to replace an existing crossing on the Kings Highway, the main road link between Canberra and New South Wales.

The US$86 million contract involves demolition of the existing bridge and construction of the new one, including abutment works. The project also covers an improved approach to the bridge, wider lanes and shoulders, safety barriers and landscaping works on the riverbank.

Seymour Whyte previously supported the client, Transport for NSW, in carrying out design changes to improve ‘constructability’ and environmental outcomes.

Control measures for erosion, sediment, biodiversity and the translocation of seagrasses will be implemented on the project to preserve natural environments.
