The New South Wales Government (NSW) has awarded a contract a worth US$220 million for a Sydney light rail project that includes a 320m bridge over the Parramatta River.

The contract to construct 1.3km of light rail alignment including the bridge was awarded to John Holland Pty Ltd.

The bridge will carry buses, light rail and active travellers. Design is due to begin this year, and construction will start in 2025, according to the NSW Government.

The bridge has a long span balanced cantilever design to minimise the number of piers in the river. It will be cast in situ.
