The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) has selected a joint venture consisting of four companies for the construction of a new Long Bridge in Washington DC on the east coast of the USA (link opens in new tab).
The new two-track rail bridge and its accompanying cycle and pedestrian bridge will be built by a joint venture, The Long Bridge Rail Partners, consisting of Trumbull Corp, Fay, S&B Construction and Wagman Heavy Civil.
The crossing will span the Potomac River and the George Washington Memorial Parkway, lying between two existing rail bridges. The aim of the project is to relieve a rail traffic bottleneck. The foot and cycle bridge will improve connections between the Long Bridge Aquatic Centre, the Mount Vernon Trail and Ohio Drive.
