Vietnam’s deputy prime minister, Nguyen Xuân Phúc, has approved nearly US$13 million for emergency repair work on the Ghenh road and railway bridge which crosses the Ðong Nai River in Ðong Nai Province. This money will be taken from the government's 2016 state budget.

Work will be undertaken by the Vietnam Railways Corporation under the auspices of the Transport Ministry. The 100-year-old Ghenh Bridge is a key component of Vietnam's North-South railway line; it collapsed on 20 March when a barge collided with one of its piers. There were no fatalities but several people fell into the river during the incident.

The interruption of the trunk rail route means trains can now go no further than Biên Hòa Station, which is also in Ðong Nai Province.
