Subsidiary Lunda Construction is the apparent low bidder on a US$322.7 million contract involving the construction of twin 1,035m bridges with 242m-long basket-handle arches over the Mississippi River. The new bridges will replace the existing twin steel girder bridges carrying the I-74 between Bettendorf in Iowa and Moline in Illinois. Construction is expected to begin this summer for completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Design of the project is by Alfred Benesch & Company and Modjeski & Masters.

Tutor Perini has also won a US$82.2 million contract for the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority to provide design-build services for the upgrades to the Henry Hudson Bridge in New York City. The project scope of work includes the installation of a structural system with an alternative load path using high-capacity deep foundations, replacement of concrete piers for the north and south viaducts, replacement of the north abutment pilaster concrete and installation of new bearings. A new structural health monitoring system will also be fitted. Work is expected to begin in this spring for substantial completion in summer 2020.

The third contract is for Maryland Department of Transportation and involves the US$77.9 million conversion of an at-grade intersection into a grade-separated interchange in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The interchange with Suitland Parkway will bridge over state highway MD 4.
