Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction has won work worth US$1.3 billion from Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for packages 01 and 03 of the MTHL project, which will link the Mumbai mainland with Navi Mumbai. Daewoo-TPL has won package 02.

Package 01, which L&T secured in partnership with IHI Corporation of Japan, involves the construction of a multi-level interchange at Sewri and a six-lane marine bridge from Sewri to 10.38km into the Mumbai bay, crossing over the Sewri mudflats, Pir Pau Jetty and Thane Creek channels. The bridge will have an orthotropic steel deck over the navigation channels.

Package 03, which has been won by L&T on a standalone basis, involves the construction of a 3.6km, six-lane land bridge at Navi Mumbai.
