The Danish Road Directorate has scaled back its plans to abolish bridge operators on four bridges in Jutland after protests from local authorities. The proposal to introduce remote operation will now be applied only to Crown Prince Frederik's Bridge, which crosses the Roskilde Fjord in Frederikssund, as a pilot project.
The other three northern Jutland bridges at Vilsund, Aggersund and Hadsund which were also proposed to be included in the scheme will now remain as they are until the outcome of the pilot project has been evaluated at the end of 2020.

The roads authority hopes to save a third of the running costs for the bridges by operating them remotely, but local councils raised concerns over security and safety breaches that may occur with no operator present. The roads authority claims that remote operation improves safety as it incorporates cameras which give a wider field of vision than that enjoyed by a single person in the operation turret.
