Preliminary studies by a French agency suggest that by the end of 2005 some 22,000 cars and lorries and 2,500 carriages will pass through the new Danube bridge every month. The French will provide a EUR 500,000 grant; a EUR 5 million tranche is expected to be released in mid-year for construction design. Kreditanstaldt fur Wideraufbau will provide a EUR 15 million loan at very favourable terms.
