The contract with Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) is worth between US$1.5 million to US$3 million.

The Old Mississippi River Bridge, built in 1940, is a 3,720m-long steel truss structure. In 2005, TRC conducted an in-depth inspection of the bridge, which revealed signs of deterioration. TRC will be prime consultant for the rehabilitation, which includes approximately 40 to 50 steel and/or concrete structural repairs, the application of an epoxy co-polymer overlay to the bridge deck and removal of deteriorating lead-based paint with application of a new coating system.

The US$80 million project to extend the life of the bridge and prevent further deterioration is scheduled to begin in approximately two years.
