Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA) in association with Glasgow & Clyde Valley Green Network Partnership (GCVGNP) and Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) are inviting entries from design professionals and students to produce proposals for the connection between two key sites.

The 20km2 Seven Lochs Wetland Park will be the largest urban nature park in Scotland and is expected to attract over one million visitors per year. However, the M73 motorway currently divides key wetland and woodland areas within the park and restricts access from the surrounding communities.

Scott Ferguson, Gartloch Gartcosh green network development officer with the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Green Network Partnership said: ?A green link across the M73 is a key part of the Green Network Strategy for the Seven Lochs Wetland Park. We hope this design competition will generate ideas not just for a physical connection between places and communities, but for an innovative and iconic structure that helps put the Seven Lochs Wetland Park on the map.”

The submission deadline is 14 October 2013, and the winning designers will have the opportunity to work in partnership with GCVGNP to develop a more detailed design concept and feasibility study to present to project partners and key stakeholders.

More information, including the competition brief and entry form, is available on the GIA website.
