Some 190,000 people took part in the festival to mark the completion of the Waldschloesschen Bridge, which has an overall length of 636m and a central 148m-long arch.

The bridge cost the German city its Unesco World Heritage status. In 2009, Unesco's world heritage committee decided to remove Dresden Elbe Valley from the list due to the building of the four-lane bridge and its impact on the setting.
