Roads & Transport Authority director-general and chairman HE Mattar Al Tayer said that the project comprises the construction of a 295m-long bridge at the junction of Al Meydan Street and Al Sa’ada Street, and another 240m bridge of three lanes in each direction.

The US$91 million project for the upgrading of roads at Business Bay is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2018. The scheme also includes construction of three underpasses and 4km of road works.

The work is part of the Parallel Roads project, which is one of the initiatives being undertaken by RTA to ease the congestion of Sheikh Zayed Road. Other current projects to improve road transport in Dubai include a 3.5km-long bridge over the Dubai Water Canal.
