Turkish transport minister Habib Soluk has confirmed that the third bridge to be built over the Bosphorus in Istanbul will have provision for rail traffic.
The Third Bosphorus Bridge is currently out to tender as part of a package for construction and operation of the North Marmara Highway. It wil be built as a build operate and transfer scheme.
Local media have reported Soluk as saying that 12 companies have so far purchased the conditions of contract for the tender. These are reported to include six Turkish companies as well as companies from Russia, France, Italy, Spain and Austria. The tender deadline is 23 August.
