Plans for a floating concrete bridge in Dubai have been approved by ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The new crossing will be part of an integrated system aimed at a 37% reduction in traffic congestion on the Al Maktoum Bridge to the north. Tendering is due to start in July with the contract starting on site in September. The floating bridge is expected to be ready by March next year and is seen as a temporary measure, with a permanent crossing following later.
