The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has agreed a contract for the construction of four air-conditioned footbridges for tram users.
All of the new bridges will be covered and fitted with electric elevators and escalators. They have been designed to complement the trams and the stations.
The RTA has a major programme of pedestrian bridge construction, with seven recently opened and four due to come into service next month. It will also release a tender for constructing a further seven pedestrian bridges this year as part of a plan that was approved last year for 17 new crossings.
