"The delivery of the last sections of steel marks another milestone in the delivery of Poole's much-needed second harbour crossing,” said Elaine Atkinson, leader of the council in the Borough of Poole. “It means that we will shortly be able to take great pride in seeing the full bridge stretching across the Backwater Channel."

Borough of Poole strategic director Jim Bright said: "The delivery and assembly of 800t of steel is a major logistical and engineering achievement, especially as this work is currently ahead of schedule. We hope to continue this momentum as we make the final preparations for the public opening of the Twin Sails Bridge in early 2012."
