The US$7.3 million bridge will be located next to the city’s aquarium on property operated by the Audubon Nature Institute. It will connect to a new bus terminal and the riverfront streetcar as part of a multi-modal transport hub being constructed by New Orleans Regional Transit Authority. The first of two public meetings to solicit feedback on the scheme will take place this month.

Construction of the RTA Ferry Pedestrian Bridge is expected to be complete by spring 2019 in conjunction with the Canal Street Ferry Terminal project – another of the new waterfront schemes. Other projects include renovations of the World Trade Center and open spaces to create a 5.1km park along the riverfront.
