Genoa mayor Marco Bucci told TV station SkyTG24 that the site is expected to be released by investigators shortly.

Bucci said that work will start as soon as the site is released. The selection process for construction work will be carried out in parallel with that for the demolition, so that the city will have a replacement bridge in place by the first half of 2020, he said.

A report was published in September by the team investigating the collapse of the Morandi Bridge, which is also known as the Polcevera Viaduct (link opens in new tab).
