The Port of Los Angeles on the west coast of the USA marked the groundbreaking of the US$152 million Avalon Pedestrian Bridge and Promenade Gateway project.

The bridge will give public access to Wilmington Waterfront Promenade via a signature bridge over a railway line. The structure, designed by TYLin will be a concrete cable-stayed arch.
The project as a whole will transform 12 acres of former industrial land into a public open space with seating and gathering areas, pathways, parking, toilet facilities and sculptures.
