Both schemes are part of the US$1.3 billion Louisville-Southern-Indiana Ohio River Bridges project, which includes more than 60 permanent and temporary bridge structures.

Construction is expected to begin in July 2013 and be substantially completed in December 2016. HDR will be working with Figg Bridge Inspection, Inc., Greenman-Pedersen, S&ME and local and specialised firms. The team is providing oversight and inspection, material sampling and testing, quality assurance support and a number of other services.

“This project is not only about building a bridge, but about building it right the first time, so the Louisville and southern Indiana communities benefit for a long time," said Ben Edelen, HDR's Kentucky department manager and principal-in-charge on the project.
