The Norwegian roads authority Statens Vegvesen has awarded the package for concrete works, including the towers, to Veidekke Entreprenor, and the steel deck and cable works to Danish contractor MT Hojgaard. The tunnels will be built by AF Skandinavia, and work on these will start in February.

The bridge will have a main span of 1310m with very short backspans that will lead directly into tunnels on each side of the fjord. The concrete towers will be 200m high. The project also includes 2.4km of tunnels and 800m of new roads.
