Assembly began last year of the 82m-long, 21m-wide, 10.5m-high trusses. The new west truss is comprised of tubular supports ranging in diameter from approximately 0.5m to 1m.

"It feels great to see the first truss being complete. It's been a long time since we first worked on the design in 2000," said the Hood Canal Bridge Project bridge technical advisor Geoff Swett.
