The project, part of TxDOT’s commitment to improving the I-35 corridor throughout the state, involves the construction of 11 bridges, 615,000m3 of excavation, 1.6 million cubic metres of embankment and 500,000m2 of concrete paving. I-35 is a major north-south interstate highway running from Laredo near the USA-Mexico border through Gainesville where it crosses into Oklahoma.

This is the second I-35 contract won by James Construction Group, which os a subsidiary of  Primoris Services Corporation. James was awarded a US$107 million contract by TxDOT in July 2010 for a 13.5 mile stretch of I-35 linking Waco and Austin. That project, scheduled for completion by 2014, consists of widening and replacing the roadway with new concrete paving, as well as constructing seven bridges over I-35, the Lampassas River, and the NW Connector.

Work on the project is scheduled to start in January 2012 and is expected to be completed by July 2015.
