A joint venture of Massman, Traylor and Alberici is the apparent low bidder for the main span of the New Mississippi River Bridge project.
Bids were opened yesterday and its bid of US$229.45 million was lower than the US$274.93 million offered by a joint venture of Amercian Bridge and Dragados.
The 457m-long cable-stayed bridge will connect the US states of Missouri and Illinois. Construction is due to start in early 2010.
Land acquisition is currently taking place to secure the properties required to complete the river bridge and its approaches.
