The overpasses cross the Moscow and Oktyabrskaya railways at Prospect Mira, which is one of the key urban routes linking Yaroslavskoye highway with the city centre. Work included combining two overpasses into a single 361m, reinforced concrete span and widening the roadway to 10 lanes. Mostotrest maintained road and rail traffic at normal levels throughout the reconstruction works.
The spans and slant legs of the original Bolshoy and Maliy Krestovsky overpasses were dismantled in the first stage of the project using diamond cutting technology, while the Starokrestovsky overpass was reconstructed for use by construction equipment. Two temporary overpasses were built over the railways.
Reconstruction work was undertaken by Mostotrest's branch Mostootryad-4, with OJSC Hyprotransmost carrying out the design. Client for the scheme was CJSC Administration of Capital Development, Utilities, Buildings & Roads.
