A visually arresting bridge is on course for completion in September, according to the Oman Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology.
The project to connect a tourist destination in the south west of the country with the Al Mughasail Road and Bridge is ahead of schedule, according to the ministry. The 630m structure will be supported by 20 piers, with a pair of 30m high side abutments (link opens in new tab). Six decorative arches, a walkway and parking will turn the bridge, which is located near to Marneef Cave and Mughsail Beach, into a destination in itself. With a deck 13m above the water, Al Mughsail Bridge will maintain traffic flow even during flooding and other extreme weather events.
