The support will enable the next stage of engineering to be carried out for the Panay-Guimaras-Negros (PGN) scheme. Department of Public Works & Highways acting secretary Roger Mercado said that the detailed engineering design will be moving forward soon following the completion of supplemental feasibility studies by the Korean team.
The proposed link for Panay Island, Guimaras Island and Negros Island has two bridge components. The 13km Panay-Guimaras section will have a sea-crossing length of 4.97km; the Guimaras-Negros section will have a total length of 19.47km including 13.11km across the sea.
