Ponting and architect Peter Gabrijelcic have won an international competition to design a bridge over the Dunabe River in Novi Sad, Serbia.

The four-span structure will have a total length of 420m and will be built on the existing piers of a demolished railway bridge. The superstructure is designed as continuous composite girder, stiffened with a low arch in the 188m-long main span.

In cross section, the continuous superstructure consists of a three-cell box-shaped steel girder which is 3.5m to 4m-high, steel cantilevers and a composite concrete slab. The deck is 25m wide and will carry four traffic lanes with pedestrian and cycle paths on both sides.
