Design-build teams with experience of international best practice for the design and construction of landmark bridge structures are sought and the deadline for responses is 28 May. A key goal of the procurement is to deliver the project ahead of the 2015 Western Canada Games, to be held in Fort McMurray.

RMWB intends to use a partnering contract and the successful proponent will enter a Limited Notice to Proceed agreement, to develop the design concept and target base costs for the proposed structure, before executing the contract for full design and construction.

The project will be the first to break ground as part of the wider city centre area redevelopment plan which will see the municipality invest significant capital funding over the next two to three years to upgrade critical infrastructure. The RFP (reference QU 2951) can be downloaded from the state government’s purchasing site http://www.purchasingconnection.ca/#
