The Third Bosphorus Bridge will be built between Poyrazk'y and Garip'e, Turkey's minister of transportation and Istanbul's mayor have announced.

The main span of the suspension bridge will be 1,275m and its total length will be 1,875m. It will be built as part of a major highway project that includes extensive road construction on both the Asian and European sides of the Bosphorus.

Transport minister Binali Yildirim said that six routes for the bridge had been examined during the decision-making process and that the chosen route would cause the least amount of damage to the environment.
