The arch was jacked to its full height before being floated to site in order to shorten the delays to river traffic during the installation. It will be jacked down onto the pier tops today and concrete will be placed to fix it into position. The barge will then be filled with ballast water tomorrow to lower it, with bracing towers removed if necessary to enable it to be pushed away. The weathering-steel arch, which has been fabricated by Fought & Company, is 111m long, 23m tall and weighs 1600t.
