DRJTC says that the approach will involve the shortest detour period possible, with 46 days required. It expects work to begin in the summer.

The six-span double Warren Truss bridge is 267m long and links New Jersey and Pennsylvania. "The driving factor of this rehabilitation is the urgent need to conduct repairs of the bridge's masonry walls which have exhibited severe bulging and cracking," said executive director Frank McCartney. "Unfortunately, the needed repairs require the closure of the bridge." Other safety and aesthetic improvements, including scour protection, will also be carried out but will not impact the overall duration of the closure.
