Restoration of a historic chain-bar suspension bridge in Scotland that has been closed since 2020 can progress, thanks to a grant of US$333,000.

Kalemouth Suspension Bridge is used by cyclists and pedestrians to cross the river Teviot. The listed structure was closed to vehicles in August 2020 (link opens in new tab).
The cash boost from the National Lottery Heritage Fund will allow Scottish Borders Council to take the project forward through detailed planning, while gaining further funding to secure the historic structure’s future.
