Four beams forming part of a span for a 2.5km bridge under construcion in Hanoi, Vietnam, collapsed on Sunday.
The span had been completed in December for the US$53 million Phap Van Bridge, which is being built by state-owned contractor Thang Long Corporation and Japan's Sumitomo Corporation.
Local reports said that the collapse will not affect the opening of the project, which is scheduled for completion in September as part of celebrations of Hanoi's 1,000th anniversary.
