Study announced for Buffalo River lift bridge
Funding of US$2 million has been secured to begin an engineering study into the best location for a lifting bridge to connect downtown Buffalo in the US state of New York to its outer harbour. The new crossing will replace the Michigan Avenue Lift Bridge as part of plans to develop the area's waterfront. A consultant is expected to be appointed towards the end of the year once the funding becomes available. The environmental study and preliminary engineering work is likely to take two to three years to complete.
