Winston Jordan spoke about the bridge this week in his national budget, which set out plans for increased investment in infrastructure.

Jordan said that Guyana’s national and international competitiveness has suffered because of the lack of structured and coordinated investments in public infrastructure. He talked about how the “sorry tale” of problems such as dilapidated bridges will become things of the past. “Roads, bridges, culverts and similar infrastructure are indispensible for creating wealth; linking people; and closing the gap between farms and markets and between businesses and the factors of production,” he said.
