The General Mark W Clark Bridge in Washington State in the USA will be replaced under a US$82 million design and build contract awarded to Parsons/Kuney.
Design work will begin in early March after the team receives the final approval from Washington State Department of Transportation. Some foundation construction will take place this summer ahead of the completion of the entire design. The design-build approach was chosen to give crews an early start on the project, enabling completion by mid-2011.
The contract includes work to improve road access, as well as the replacement of the 60-year-old bridge.
