A competition to design the proposed Ballsbridge-Dodder Pedestrian Bridge in Dublin South City, Ireland, has been won by architect Alan Dempsey.

The pedestrian bridge project forms part of Mountbrook Group's package of social and community initiatives for the local area.

Dempsey's entry was chosen from 43 submissions following a competition organised by the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland. The competition was specifically aimed at Irish architects under the age of 35. "For the panel of judges, Alan Dempsey's design stood out as a sleek, modern and elegant architectural creation," said Mountbrook Group managing director Sean Dunne.
