The scheme will increase both speed and capacity on the Hell to Værnes line. The project scope includes construction of a bridge, a new station platform and upgrading of technical systems as well as new signal and security works. Design work will begin this month with construction of the scheme scheduled for completion in 2016.

"There is no doubt that this work will create better conditions for people as well as commercial-life in the region. Trains will leave more often and the driving time will be reduced,” said project manager Steinar Flessen. The main target is a 100% increase in goods transport by 2020, to strengthen the region’s commerce and stimulate further employment.
